Minamata Disease:
It is a neurological disease that is caused by Mercury Poisoning. The symptoms of Minamata disease are: Muscle weakness, reduced field of vision or sight and there is damage to their hearing and speech.
Minamata disease was first discovered in Japan in 1956. Even today Minamata disease is one of the Top 3 biggest disease outbreaks in Japan today. Another name for Minamata disease is Chisso - Minamata disease. This is because the first case was from traces of methyl mercury in the wastewater where somebody drank from. The place where the mercury came from is Chisso - Chemicals.

Mad Cow Disease

I once met a young boy called Jamie. He contracted a rare disease called Mad Cow Disease. The very strange thing about this disease is that people cannot actually catch Mad Cow Disease itself as it is limited to animals such as Cows, Sheep and Goat. This boy had come into contact with the virus while on his dad's farm. The contact that the boy had with Mad Cow disease caused a very rare brain condition called vCJD. The only way that I can think of that this boy came in contact with the virus is, Mad Cow Disease affects the cow's nervous system. It would be a perfectly reasonable explanation that they shot the cow because of it's meat and then consumed it to avoid wasting food. The only thing that makes it hard for to create an accurate story of how Jamie contracted the vCJD is that it takes years or even decades for symptoms to form after exposure to the disease. Unfortunately for the boy, this is a fatal disease. Despite the low number of cases, 210, death from the disease is not the only result.
Symptoms
The first symptoms of Mad Cows disease are personality changes such as anxiety, depression, memory loss and confusion. These symptoms become worse after having the disease for longer. The second set of symptoms is problems with balance, coordination leading to difficulty with hand coordination, stumbling, difficulty walking.
Death
Unfortunately, for Jamie, I was unsure how to deal with the symptoms and put them together. The only way I found out that he died of Mad Cow Disease is the tumor was removed during the autopsy.

Design a Disease
Name: Gone with the Wind
Background: The disease started of in Argentina. It left Argentina 17 days later by infecting a victim in Peru and Brazil. The disease was waterborne and airborne.
Cause: The cause of the disease was a virus.
Incidence: At day 30 the average infections per day were 8796534 and the average deaths were 9657236.
Risk factors: The biggest risk factors to people were airports and ports as that is where all of the people meet and the disease spread the most. (ie, so the risk factor was close contact with infected persons?)
Symptoms: During the first 30 days my disease was asymptomatic where there were no visible symptoms, after that I buy the most invisible symptoms but also the most lethal this means that they die and no one knows what is happening.
Treatment: The government came up with a vaccine to make the people still alive immune to the disease.
Control: While my disease was in full swing the governments ordered a hand out of masks and bottled water in order the stop the spread of infection. The places without the virus closed the ports and the airports.
Prevention: The sad thing was that every country that was infected with the disease died but the ones with hospitals became vaccinated and that stopped the disease from spreading.

The implications of what he has done effects us today because we are all usually vaccinated against cowpox so that we don’t ever get sick from it.

Trying to find out why drinks such as beer and wine would go sour overtime.
He heat these drinks at different temperatures and found it would kill bacteria. This process is called pasteurization.
This process is now used worldwide to help drinks and foodstuff last longer. That is why the milk we buy says pasteurised.

Now, we have the Koch Postulates. These are criteria for us being able to develop a link between microbes and disease.
Alexander Fleming

He wanted to find a cure to a bacterial disease that killed so many people in the war
After the war Fleming searched for antibacterial agents. He discovered that antiseptics killed the patients immune system more effectively than it killed the bacterial infection.
Fleming's re-discovery lead to scientific revolution in which then, and today scientist have been constantly trying to discover more and more cures to diseases and infections, without Fleming's discovery who knows how much scientist would have discovered.
